About:

Teen and Young Adult parents have a unique set of demands, needs and expectations placed upon them. Since young parents are trying to play many different roles - as parents, students, teenagers, etc.- those who are there to help them need to understand the complexity of their world.

Goals:

  • Support youth in framing and achieving their goals by providing teen parents and non-parenting, high-risk teens with positive adult mentorships, cultural & educational experiences and advocacy
  •  Expand teen pregnancy and teen parenting awareness by providing training and education about risk factors and issues associated with teen pregnancy including; poverty, fatherhood engagement, abuse, domestic violence and educational achievement.
  • Combat & Reframe the negative stereotypes about teen pregnancy and teen parenting with focused research, community discussions and a broad lens through which teen pregnancy is viewed as a social justice issue.
  •  Assist organizations in developing highly effective risk prevention programming that addresses multiple risk areas, including substance abuse, school engagement, domestic violence, all of which affect and impact teen pregnancy rate.
